We have all heard it, and many of us have said it, those four powerless words; “New year, New You” (or New Me). Those words make me cringe. Stay with me for a few minutes, I promise it will be worth it. If we subscribe to those four words, we are giving our power away to the new year. I want you to stop giving your power away, I want you to unsubscribe.

Just because it is a new year, nothing is going to change in your life unless you take the aligned action to change it yourself. The power in this phrase lies in the You. It is not enough to do manifestation meditations. You have to take action. Our manifestations can only come true if we take the aligned action on them.
You have the power, stop pretending like you don’t. If you want to be healthier this year, what actions are YOU going to take to change your health? Are you committing to eating nourishing foods, finding joy in movement, finally getting your hormones tested, or getting that chronic neck pain checked out? Are you going to commit to better boundaries around sleep, drinking water, and meditation?
If you want more freedom with your time, what boundaries are you going to set around your time? Are you going to drop a day at work? Are you going to stop wasting your time scrolling social media? What boundaries are you making to take your time back? If you want better relationships, who are you spending time with that you don’t actually like? If you want more money, what are the action steps you are going to take to get you there? You get the gist of it. The power lies within YOU. And that is what I want you to subscribe to.

Now, if you have set resolutions for this year that you have already broken, you are in great company. Studies show that 80% of resolutions fail. Welcome to the cool kids’ club. It is never too late (or too early) to start again.
Before you hop back on the resolution train though, I’d like to ask you to take a few minutes to pause and reflect on the resolutions you have set for yourself. What is the core reason behind why you set that resolution? If you want to lose weight, why do you want to lose weight? Seriously, take a journal out and reflect. Do you want more confidence in the way you look? Why? Is it because you think more confidence will help you land your dream job or partner? Why do you want that job or partner? Keep asking yourself why to get to the core reason for the resolution.
I suggest asking why 7 times to get to that reason. Then once you are there, maybe set a more realistic resolution. Hint: You do not need to lose the 10 lbs. to get the partner, or job, or confidence. It is important to dive deeper into the why behind your desires, because when we have a deeper why, we are motivated to stick to the changes that will get us there.
The secret success to change is taking consistent action towards a bigger vision. Create that vision and trust the process. If you fall into old habits, you don’t have to wait until 2022, or Monday, or even tomorrow to start again. You can start again Now. May this year be all that you make it to be.
